1980 Triumph Tr7 Convertible
Here is my 1980 Triumph Tr7 2.0 Convertible . Built in 1980 ,registered in 1983 due to being on display at Leyland dealers as one of the last batch 2.0 litre Tr7s made .American spec. but right hand drive .Been used as a club car here & the U.S.A. Bodywork reasonable ,but interior a bit scruffy ,mainly minor paint bubbles on bodywork ,but drives really well with 64000 miles showing with some history & a big pile of old M.O.T.s in a folder .The boot ,around door hinges ,wheel arches are the places these cars really rot – but they are O.K. – original handbook with paperwork .
Seat belts ,the original “deck chair” seats ,& carpets are worn ,but they are all originals ,along with the steering wheel ,which were all re- fitted years ago ,after the clubman seats & “snap – on” wheel and harnesses were changed – over to a Mini Cooper .The Dash isn”t cracked but the cabin is what the car really needs sorting /tidying .All the main mechanicals were renewed or changed a few years ago, including the Engine ,no whines from the rare 5 speed box and according to the last owner the axle was changed .I bought the car to do a rolling restoration ,cos it still drove well ,but a motorcycle accident has made me change track ,my mobility is affected after being a mechanic & engineer all my life & my legs make me struggle to fit in the car at 73 y.o. I have bought a old Rover 2000 because of the large doors ,so I reluctantly have to sell the Triumph . The car is tax & M.O.T. exempt and I recently fitted 3 brand new tires ,having taken the rough wide originals off ,which helps the non – power steering along . A full tank of E 5 fuel will go with the car & I will give the possible owner a good test drive and will be around to answer any questions you throw at me ?. The Classic car insurance costs me £98 which includes roadside recovery . What needs looking at – dash electric clock doesn”t work ,the fuel sender unit is
iffy [new one”s are on ebay ] ,rear brakes work O.K. but need taking – up a notch to pull up the handbrake ,the seatbelt fabric is yuck !
And the rubber rear window guides were stolen in Morrison”s car park ,they are available on eBay . Thanks for watching – Mark .
